Evicide® Rose Eco

Evicide® rose eco (INCI: Phenethyl Alcohol) is a 100% natural, aromatic alcohol. Known chemically as 2-phenylethanol, this clear, colorless liquid is a nature-identical multifunctional ingredient. It is a strategic choice for formulators who need to combine fragrance masking with a robust antimicrobial boost. Because its mechanism is physical rather than chemical, it offers a major advantage: it remains fully effective across the entire cosmetic pH range.

Key Benefits and Performance

  • pH-Independent Antimicrobial Activity: it remains active at neutral or even alkaline pH, providing critical flexibility for high-pH cleansers.

  • Targeted “Hurdle” Synergy: It is rated “very good” against Gram-negative bacteria and moulds. This makes it the perfect partner for other natural preservatives that may be strong against Gram-positive bacteria but weaker against these specific contaminants.

  • Membrane-Disrupting Mechanism: As an amphiphilic molecule, it works by disrupting microbial cell membranes and inhibiting intracellular enzymes. This physical mode of action makes it difficult for microorganisms to develop resistance.
