Epsan® Plus

EPSAN® PLUS is a patent-pending preservation platform that leverages the synergy between an aromatic acid and a fermented homopolymer. By combining p-Anisic Acid (derived from anise) with Polylysine (produced via bacterial fermentation), the system overcomes the individual limitations of each active to provide robust defense against bacteria, yeasts, and molds.

Performance & Synergistic Mechanism

  • Environmental Resilience: The inclusion of p-Anisic acid protects the system’s efficacy in the presence of phosphates, copper ions, and acidic polysaccharides, which typically inhibit Polylysine when used alone.

  • Solubilized Convenience: The use of Polyglycerin-10 and Coco-Glucoside as carriers ensures the aromatic acid remains stable and clear in a water-soluble liquid format.

Formulation & Compatibility Guidelines

Because Polylysine is a cationic polymer, its interaction with common natural thickeners is the most critical factor for success.

One important formulation consideration: polylysine binds to polysaccharides present in fermentation-derived ingredients such as xanthan gum, which can reduce antimicrobial efficacy. Tara gum (Caesalpinia Spinosa Gum) and guar gum are recommended as alternatives.
