AMINAT®-CB is a preservative system developed for personal care formulators, particularly for skin and hair care applications. It combines the potent antimicrobial activity of Ethyl Lauroyl Arginate HCl (LAE®) with Benzyl Alcohol – well known rpeservative- and Cinnamic Acid,a multifunctional ingredient used in cosmetics for its antioxidant, antimicrobial, skin-conditioning, and UV-absorbing properties. The inclusion of Cinnamic Acid provides a synergistic effect specifically targeting molds, ensuring robust protection even in complex formulations.
This blend is designed to minimize potential interactions associated with its cationic nature while delivering a strong, broad-spectrum profile.
Key Benefits
- Broad-Spectrum Synergy: Combines multiple actives to reinforce antimicrobial efficacy, especially in formulas with high ingredient counts.
- Enhanced Antifungal Activity: Cinnamic acid acts synergistically with LAE® to provide superior protection against molds. Benzyl Alcohol boosts the LAE® efficacy and protects the air chambers of cosmetic containers.
- Cationic Conditioning: Due to its cationic nature, it provides additional smoothness to both skin and hair.
- Excellent Safety Profile: The LAE® molecule is rapidly metabolized into natural compounds (Arginine and Lauric acid) common in the human diet.
- Global Acceptance: Contains ingredients recognized as GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) by the FDA and Food Additives.
Handling & Formulation Guidelines
Unlike some cationic actives, AMINAT®-CB is designed for versatility and ease of use in diverse formulations.
Compatibility & Stability
- Anionic Tolerance: This blend is uniquely suitable for formulations with high anionic systems (like shampoos) or anionic thickeners (such as Xanthan Gum, or Bentonite)
Incorporation
- Flexible Processing: For the best performance of the blend, it is advisable to incorporate AMINAT®-CB at the end of the production process, once the pH has been adjusted.
