Beauté by Roquette® GA 290 is a “slow-release” polyhydroxy acid. Upon contact with water, it progressively hydrolyzes into Gluconic Acid—a molecule containing five hydroxyl groups and one carboxylic acid group. Depending on the formulation’s pH, this acid further converts into gluconate. This gradual transition makes it a significantly gentler alternative to rapid-acting Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) like Glycolic Acid.
Key Benefit: A multifunctional EDTA substitute and gentle peeler that provides acidification and chelation without the irritation potential of traditional acids
Performance & Multifunctional Benefits
-
Gentle Exfoliation: Provides progressive peeling activity suitable for sensitive skin types that cannot tolerate AHAs or BHAs.
-
Heavy Metal Chelation: Acts as an effective natural substitute for EDTA, binding metallic ions to improve formula stability and prevent oxidation.
-
Acidity Regulation: Functions as a slow-release acidifier, allowing for precise control of the final formulation’s pH over time.
-
Moisturization: The high number of hydroxyl groups makes it an excellent humectant, pulling moisture into the skin during the exfoliation process.
-
Preservative Enhancement: By lowering pH and chelating ions, it significantly boosts the efficacy of organic acid preservatives like Sodium Benzoate or Potassium Sorbate.
