Evicide® GMCY is a 100% natural multifunctional ingredient based on glyceryl caprylate, the monoester of glycerin and caprylic acid. It is used frequently as a natural preservative boosting agent in cosmetic formulation, effective at improving the performance of any preservative system — including natural and synthetic — at a remarkably low use level. It is particularly powerful in emulsion systems of all types, where it also functions as a co-emulsifier, accelerating the emulsification process and improving production efficiency by helping emulsifiers assemble more rapidly at the oil-water interface.
Compared to its laurate counterpart glyceryl laurate (Evicide® GML), the shorter caprylic chain length of glyceryl caprylate confers slightly different solubility and emulsification characteristics, making it especially preferred in skin care emulsions.
