Nipaguard® SCE

Nipaguard® SCE (INCI: Sorbitan Caprylate, Propanediol, Benzoic Acid) is a high-performance, naturally derived broad-spectrum preservative blend. By utilizing Sorbitan Caprylate as a potent bio-booster alongside Propanediol and Benzoic Acid, it provides a robust hurdle-technology approach that is particularly effective against the difficult-to-control category of moulds.

Key Benefits and Performance

  • Specialist Mould Efficacy: While many natural systems are weak against fungi, Nipaguard® SCE excels at controlling yeasts and moulds, ensuring the long-term safety of water-containing toiletries.

  • The “Hurdle” Synergy: The Sorbitan Caprylate acts by increasing the permeability of microbial cell membranes. This “weakening” effect allows the Benzoic Acid to be significantly more effective at lower concentrations than if used alone.

  • Excellent Stability: The blend is highly stable in low-pH environments and does not undergo the rapid hydrolysis or discoloration issues seen with some other organic acid systems.

  • Broad-Spectrum Security: Provides a complete antimicrobial shield against Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, yeasts, and moulds.

Formulation Guidelines

  • pH Dependent: As this blend contains Benzoic Acid, its efficacy is strictly pH-dependent. For the preservative to be active, the final formulation must be within the recommended pH range

Compatibility: Suitable for a wide range of applications, including transparent shampoos, shower gels, O/W emulsions (creams/lotions), and wet wipes.
