Lexgard O Natural MB

Lexgard® O Natural MB (INCI: Caprylyl Glycol) is a 100% natural, readily biodegradable multifunctional ingredient derived from sustainable palm feedstock. This high-purity medium-chain terminal diol (1,2-octanediol) is a cornerstone of “natural” preservation strategies.

• Skin Conditioning: Acts as a high-performance humectant and emollient, providing immediate skin-conditioning benefits and improving the “slip” and spreadability of emulsions.

Formulation Guidelines

• Preservation Strategy: While highly effective against bacteria, it has limited activity against yeast and mould. For full broad-spectrum protection, it must be combined with a dedicated antifungal agent (e.g., Caprylhydroxamic Acid).

• Compatibility: Stable across a wide pH range  and compatible with most cosmetic raw materials, including anionic, cationic, and non-ionic surfactants.

• Incorporation: Can be added to the water phase or during the cooling phase of an emulsion. In cold-process formulations, it may require slight warming or pre-mixing with other glycols to ensure complete dissolution.
