Epsan® C

EPSAN® C is a concentrated antimicrobial blend that builds upon the synergistic foundation of p-Anisic Acid and Polylysine with the addition of Benzoic Acid. This triple-active approach is specifically engineered to provide superior inhibition of yeasts and molds while maintaining the potent bacterial control of the fermented polylysine homopolymer.

Performance & Thermal Stability

  • Reinforced Antifungal Activity: The addition of Benzoic Acid—a well-tolerated, low-environmental-impact preservative—strengthens the system’s ability to prevent yeast and mold growth in high-water formulations.

  • Exceptional Heat Resistance: Proven stable at 80°C for one hour, allowing formulators to incorporate the system during the hot emulsification phase without losing antimicrobial potency.

  • Cationic Disruption: Utilizes the same membrane-disrupting mechanism as EPSAN® PLUS, where the positively charged polylysine electrostatically targets bacterial cell walls.

Formulation & Handling Guidelines

Because EPSAN® C is cationic, specific rheology choices are mandatory to prevent “crashing” or loss of efficacy. Due to the cationic nature of the polylysine, it has xanthan gum incompatibility applies. Tara gum and guar gum are recommended as alternatives.
