Dermosoft® Anisate Eco

Dermosoft® anisate eco (INCI: Sodium Anisate) is a 100% naturally derived, highly water-soluble salt of p-anisic acid. Sourced from Star Anise (Illicium verum), it represents a significant leap in manufacturing efficiency. Unlike the free acid form, which can be difficult to incorporate, this salt version dissolves completely in water at room temperature within one minute, making it the ideal choice for modern, cold-process natural formulations.

Key Benefits and Performance

  • Instant Water Solubility: It eliminates the need for heating, high-shear homogenization, or complex pre-dissolving steps. This “instant” solubility streamlines production and reduces energy consumption.

  • Potent Fungicidal Activity: It is a specialist in controlling yeasts and moulds. When used as part of a “Hurdle Technology” strategy, it provides the critical antifungal defense needed for water-based products.

  • Synergistic Antimicrobial Boosting: While primarily fungicidal, it shows good activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria when paired with complementary bactericidal actives (such as Dermosoft® 700B).

Formulation Guidelines

  • The “pH Activation” Rule: Antimicrobial activity is strictly dependent on the free acid form. The salt must be converted in situ to undissociated p-anisic acid to be effective. This makes a final pH adjustment to register to find out below
