Lexgard Natural MB

Lexgard® Natural MB (INCI: Glyceryl Caprylate (and) Glyceryl Undecylenate) is a 100% naturalreadily biodegradable preservation system derived from coconut, palm, and castor feedstocks. It is designed as a Hurdle Technology building block for natural and clean beauty formulations requiring both antibacterial and antifungal coverage.

The system combines two high purity plant-based monoesters with complementary and synergistic mechanisms: glyceryl caprylate (C8 monoester) delivers bacteriostatic activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, while glyceryl undecylenate — derived from castor-sourced undecylenic acid — contributes fungistatic activity against yeasts and moulds. For formulations requiring stronger yeast and mould control, Inolex recommends combining with a dedicated antifungal agent. Both components are also multifunctional cosmetic ingredients: glyceryl caprylate functions as a skin conditioning agent, emulsifier, and wetting agent; glyceryl undecylenate acts as a co-emulsifier and wetting agent. The system is particularly recommended for W/O or O/W emulsion systems and is also effective in surfactant-based products including shower gels, facial cleansers, and shampoos.
