Leucidal® Liquid is a patented (US Patent 10,159,708) antimicrobial produced by fermenting Raphanus sativus (radish root) with Leuconostoc kimchii. During this process, the bacteria produce antimicrobial peptides (bacteriocins) and acidify the environment, creating a dual mechanism of protection. Post-fermentation, willow bark extract is used to facilitate cell lysis, resulting in a filtrate rich in naturally occurring salicylates.
Key Features & Technical Benefits
-
Microbiome Rebalancing: 16S rRNA sequencing shows it selectively reduces Propionibacterium while supporting beneficial Staphylococcus and Corynebacterium populations.
-
Multifunctional Efficacy:
-
Anti-Inflammatory: IL-6 ELISA assay demonstrated significant anti-inflammatory potential.
-
Skin Health: Clinically proven to reduce TEWL, increase skin density (ultrasound imaging), and promote wound healing (scratch assay).
-
Antioxidant: ORAC assay confirms antioxidant capacity.
-
-
“Maskne” Treatment: Effectively reduces total aerobic bacteria, S. aureus, and C. acnes on face mask substrates at maximum inclusion level.
-
Natural Salicylates: Contains salicylate salts/esters rather than free salicylic acid, a key regulatory distinction for EU Annex III and V compliance.
Formulation & Handling
-
Cationic Nature: Slightly cationic; may complex with anionic thickeners, potentially causing viscosity loss. Adding extra thickener or incorporating it at the end of the process can compensate.
-
Stability: pH range , register to find out. Best added during the cooling phase below 40°C.
